About Me

My photo
We love to take family road trips - Dave, Susan, Morgan, Kendra and Kody when he can go too. We collect state magnets so we know what states we have been to, so we can plan the next vacation. I (Susan, mostly) am going to (try to) use this to share our family adventures. Vacations, events, and such. So needless to say, there won't be daily entries, and maybe not even monthly, but I'll post something, along with pictures, from time to time. So, if you're so inclined, check back once in a while.

Tuesday, July 1

Got up early and went to the Washington Monument to get tickets to go to the top. We were in line for about an hour, but we got the second tour group. We met some nice people in line. We loaded the elevator and up we went.
It was such a nice, clear day - we could really see a long way off. On the way down, the elevator slowed so we could see the state sponsored bricks on the inside. After, we went and got tickets for the Permanent exhibit at the Holocaust Museum. The exhibit was laid out in chronologic order, from Hitler's rise to power to the Liberation. It was hard to see many of the pictures and movies and read about it all. Just horrible - and the rest of the world let it happen.
We walked over to the Tidal Basin and went out on the paddle boats. We had them for an hour but we returned them early. The current killed our legs! We rested awhile and aet some huge cookies. And ice cream - then to the Metro to the hotel to rest up some more
