About Me

My photo
We love to take family road trips - Dave, Susan, Morgan, Kendra and Kody when he can go too. We collect state magnets so we know what states we have been to, so we can plan the next vacation. I (Susan, mostly) am going to (try to) use this to share our family adventures. Vacations, events, and such. So needless to say, there won't be daily entries, and maybe not even monthly, but I'll post something, along with pictures, from time to time. So, if you're so inclined, check back once in a while.

Friday July 4

Happy 4th of July! The day we came here for - Fourth of July in our Nation's Capital.

We rode the Metro to Chinatown - right outside the Portrait Gallery. That's where we were headed, too. We wanted to see 2 things in there...President's Hall and Juliet Low. But we did see more too - most were so beautiful. Juliet is better than the patch. The Presidents were so beautiful.
Then we went down the street to the wax museum. They were so real!
We could touch them and everything. Lots of pictures!
We ate at Lincoln's Waffle Shop. We sat at a counter looking out the window onto the street. It was a cute place with pretty good food.
Then off down the street, through security to where ever we are going to sit and watch fireworks. Storm #1 came in - we had our umbrellas, but no ponchos. Dave went and found a tent selling them, but the line was too long. But he did find a roll of trash bags. We wore them! We did whatever to stay as dry as possible. It passed. We met some really nice girls who work for Congressmen. Storm #2 came in. On went the bags again. Whatever! We heard there were 500K people there - it didn't seem like it - very spaced out area on the Mall. And leaving wasn't too bad either. There were tons of people, but everyone moved along well and we got back to the hotel fairly quickly. Those Fireworks - OMG! They were so beautiful. I only cried twice. They just kept going and going. The finale was fabulous! It was so amazing - Fouth of July in our Nation's Captital.
