About Me

My photo
We love to take family road trips - Dave, Susan, Morgan, Kendra and Kody when he can go too. We collect state magnets so we know what states we have been to, so we can plan the next vacation. I (Susan, mostly) am going to (try to) use this to share our family adventures. Vacations, events, and such. So needless to say, there won't be daily entries, and maybe not even monthly, but I'll post something, along with pictures, from time to time. So, if you're so inclined, check back once in a while.

Fun Time

I'm finally getting around to hitting 'publish'. But...

We're back from Disneyland. We had a lot of fun ! We had 3 day park hoppers. However, the other Mom and most of the girls have only been over there for a one day trip. So their idea...RUN to the big rides and RUN to the next, and the next - even if they're across the park from each other! I had to remind them that we had 3 days, we didn't have to run...

But I got ahead of myself. On Tuesday, when we left, the girls all wore their uniforms. We were 7 Girl Scouts. We got in the Security line, with shoes in hand. We got a tap on the shoulder... " come with me. " Oh Oh.

Cut to the front of the line.

At the gate, we checked in to get our boarding passes...he asked us why we were going to CA. We told him the story. We were then told that we were to board with the Family Boarding - so we had a better chance of sitting together. Cut to the front of the line again. THEN - over the plane loudspeaker..."Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a girl scout troop on board...They are going to Disneyland! Why you ask? They sold the most cookies in the whole state of AZ" Applause. Applause.
Then the same guy come over and gave Elise, the top seller (3700 boxes) a bag of peanuts. Whoopee, you say? When I say a bag of nuts, I mean a BAG OF NUTS. This plastic bag probably had 100 little bags of peanuts in it...Oh My! We have Snacks!

Disneyland has a parade in the afternoon. it's a lot of dancing and singing, and a big party. They stopped right in front of us, and invited Abby to go out on the street and dance with them. The other girls were all enough taller, that they were behind the littler kids. Here's Abby
Both nights were crash and burn - no one argued about how late they could stay up. Although, the other room had only teen agers in there, and we didn't really care how late they stayed up, but they went to bed right away too. After 3 days in the parks, we were exhausted. We piled in the airport and laid across backpacks. But I feel pretty good - I wasn't as tired as the teen agers! I was tired - no doubt - but they were exhausted! Yea Me! If they just would have let me call the shots for getting everywhere and doing everything, we wouldn't have been so exhausted, and still done everything we wanted to do - and then some.
Kinda makes us want to sell that many next year just to go again...NOT!!! That's just crazy talk...3700 boxes...and she really did do it on her own. The only parental assistance was getting her to her booths - all 216 hours of them! Crazy talk I tell you, crazy talk!!!
We're happy with our totals.
