About Me

My photo
We love to take family road trips - Dave, Susan, Morgan, Kendra and Kody when he can go too. We collect state magnets so we know what states we have been to, so we can plan the next vacation. I (Susan, mostly) am going to (try to) use this to share our family adventures. Vacations, events, and such. So needless to say, there won't be daily entries, and maybe not even monthly, but I'll post something, along with pictures, from time to time. So, if you're so inclined, check back once in a while.

follow up on the adventure

I realized I forgot to tell you about Morgan's trip to New York. Oh My - she had a blast! I can't remember everything she told us...she saw so many things - Times Square was right out her hotel window. She said there were people EVERYWHERE. They took a river boat dinner cruise - cold, but really pretty. The Philharmonic concert was great, Phantom of the Opera was "Fantastic! So much better than our movie". A time seeing the Statue of Liberty...she said it looked different with it sunny out (see my blog below about our rain soaked visit!) And they were just 1 point shy of a Superior rating! 89% Highest of the Excellent. Her director was very proud. The trophy looked like the Empire State Building. Very Cool. I'll try to remember to post some of her pictures, and maybe even a link to Channel 3's Game Day broadcast last friday. The orchestra played for about 30 seconds. But there she is --- front and center!

More Excitement!

Costco run – needed a few things. Got it all done – under 200! WOO HOO!
Drive home.
Up ahead, the city bus is kattywompus and a black jeep is parked on the sidewalk. Looked like maybe someone got clipped. Then we could see people gathered around – and one person laying on the sidewalk. No emergency anyone around, or sirens in the distance, so we called 911 just to make sure. It looked more like the guy on the ground maybe got hit. So that’s what we told them. Looked like someone got hit. She argued. She said that she had just received a call about a man in a fight, who went into a seizure “now which is it?” WTH??? Why would anyone care how he got on the ground…he needed help! If he was in a fight, does that mean they won’t be sending anyone? About that time, the man on the ground started moving, and the people around him were obviously trying to keep him from moving too much. Finally the ambulance came. You’ve read the emails about saying the wrong thing to your spouse? Well “That’s When the Fight Started” This guy started swinging and he wasn’t even off the ground yet. The emergency people tried to calm him down and managed to – to a point – then one went around and called for police assistance – and got the back board. He was hurt and really did need medical attention. The paramedics were in sight. So here comes this big fire truck. 4 guys get off that. Now we have 6 emergency folk. The guy was temporarily calm. Then off he went again. Swinging and yelling. He did NOT want to be put on that gurney. It took 4 EMTs to lay on him to keep him calm enough to strap him down on that thing – at least long enough to get the IV in him. We can only assume it was either a) the med to stop the seizure or b) a tranquilizer to calm him down. Then came the cops. The guy was still combative – even with that many people around him MAKING him calm down. Swinging what he could and yelling. More cops, another ambulance, more cops and more cops. 7 cop cars in all. We’re not sure how many people got out of those cars! When we left, they were putting him in the back of the ambulance. On our way home, we had to pull over for that ambulance. They were taking him to Osborn hospital – lights and sirens – so we know it was serious. Hopefully he’ll get whatever help he needs.

New Adventure

This family is off on a new adventure. But this time, only one has actually left. Kendra is spending the night at a friend's house tonight and another friend's house tomorrow. Dave and Sue are having Date Night - 2 nights in a row! Why, you ask? Where's Morgan? Well, here's the adventure...

Morgan is on her way to New York to play in the Lincoln Center with her High School Orchestra! She had to be at the airport at 4:30 AM - that was this morning. We've all been up since 3:30...yawn.
So the adventure part: Morgan is in New York for 4 days. That's her adventure.

MORGAN IS IN NEW YORK FOR 4 DAYS...that's our adventure. First time any of our kids have been out of state without one of us, let alone all the way across the country!

They are attending the Philharmonic concert tonight, their competition is tomorrow morning, then they see Phantom of the Opera, go on a dinner cruise; Sunday they sight see all over the city; and go to the Statue of Liberty on Monday morning. Her itinerary says "if there's time, grab a bite to eat..." That just cracked me up...enough that she has a purse full of granola bars!

I can't wait to hear of her adventure.

I won't share all our adventures, but maybe the highlights.
